Two arrested for vehicle theft and assault in Tompkins County, deputy injured

LANSING (WBNG) — The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of two adults Saturday for vehicle theft and assault.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office arrested Robert Snyder, 25, of Lansing, and Victoria Rose, 29, of Pennsylvania.

Around 11 a.m., the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Village of Cayuga Heights Police Department and New York State Police, responded to a business in the 2300 block of N. Triphammer Road in the Village of Lansing.

The office said upon arrival, Synder and Rose were found inside a business allegedly attempting to commit multiple burglaries. When deputies arrived, they saw Snyder standing outside the business. Meanwhile, Rose was seen leaving the premises and walking around the vehicles in the parking lot.

According to the office, Snyder was taken into custody without incident. Meanwhile, Rose moved between parked vehicles and entered an unoccupied car that did not belong to her. As deputies approached, she reversed the vehicle, striking an uninjured deputy, then collided with another parked car before speeding away.

In a news release, the office said Rose tried to elude authorities.

“Rose was quickly located in a parking lot further north on N. Triphammer Road. When Deputies pulled up behind Rose, they noticed she had already parked the vehicle and was fleeing on foot. A deputy caught up with Rose, and while taking Rose into custody, the deputy was struck in the head by her several times before being taken into custody. The deputy received minor injuries.”

It was discovered that Rose had stolen the getaway vehicle using the keys he allegedly took from inside the business.

Rose and Snyder are being held at the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office while the investigation is ongoing.
