LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – A Lake Charles woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash Friday night after her vehicle struck a delivery van head-on.

The crash claimed the life of 60-year-old Donna Chimeno of Lake Charles, according to Louisiana State Police (LSP) TFC Matt Gaspard.

The three-vehicle crash happened around 5pm on Friday, November 8, at the intersection of Nelson Road and Plantation Drive.

LSP investigators said Chimeno was driving south on Nelson Road in the outside lane when, for unknown reasons, he crossed into the left lane, striking a Jeep driven by an off-duty Calcasieu Parish sheriff’s deputy. Chimeno’s car then crossed the center line and hit a delivery van head-on.

While properly restrained, Chimeno sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

All other occupants involved were uninjured in the crash, according to Gaspard.

The accident remains under investigation.
