Police in Guelph are urging the public to be “cautious” after two people recently died from illegal drug use.

The deaths occurred in the central area of ​​the city on Friday, they said.

In a post on X, the Guelph Police Service said the deaths were “possibly related to illicit drug use.”

“Health officials in neighboring municipalities have recently warned of potentially contaminated substances,” they wrote in the community alert.

Police advise people to call 911 if they see someone overdosing on drugs and to administer naloxone if opioid use is suspected.

People are also urged to perform rescue breathing/compressions and not to administer other substances to affected persons.
