SRC is celebrating Science and Technology Month with a series of events

Carolyn Rose Miller, SRC Divisional Manager, Marketing and Cooperative Communications

The Scientific Research Council (SRC) will host a series of activities during November to mark Science and Technology Month, which is recognized under the theme ‘The Value of Innovation in the Application of Science and Technology for National Development’.

Carolyn Rose Miller, SRC Divisional Director, Marketing and Communications Cooperation, said the goal is to raise awareness and disseminate information about the application of science and technology in everyday life.

Among the activities planned for the month are Public Service Week, the Regional Exhibition and Health Fair, which will celebrate public servants, on November 19; and Science in the Park, which will involve students, on November 21. Both events will take place at Emancipation Park in St Andrew.

The 15th National Virtual Health Research Conference will also be held from November 20-22 and will be hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

There will also be a shampoo making workshop at the SRC on November 30.

Meanwhile, SRC’s signature event, SRC on Show, which will highlight the agency’s services and clients, will take place on November 28 at Hope Gardens.

Rose Miller noted that the SRC on Show 2024 will be an extraordinary showcase of innovation, entrepreneurship and the supporting role of the SRC in facilitating the commercialization of Jamaican products and ideas.

“SRC on Show is exciting. It showcases our work with clients we’ve helped take their idea from concept to market. So our customers tell our story,” said Rose Miller Online observer.

“We also expose the public to business opportunities, and they interact with scientists, explore and brainstorm,” she continued. “This year we invited stakeholders along the value chain, from raw materials to packaging, labelling, business support and market access. This way the outlets can directly see authentic Jamaican products that they can carry in line with their mantra of supporting the Jamaica brand.”
