Freddie Freeman hit the first grand slam in World Series history on Friday, giving the Los Angeles Dodgers a 10 inning win over the New York Yankees in game 1 of 2024 World Series.

With the Dodgers down 3-2 and down to their bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th, Freeman crushed a Nestor Cortes offering into right field at Dodger Stadium.

“These are the kinds of things, when you’re five years old with your two older brothers and you’re playing wiffle ball in the backyard, these are the scenarios you dream of, two outs, bases loaded in a World Series game,”, Freeman told reporters after the game.

The 2021 National League MVP Freeman was hampered by an ankle injury all season — but he also hit a triple in the Dodgers’ 6-3 win.
