OCALA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida teenager pleaded guilty Thursday morning to beating and sexually assaulting a 91-year-old woman in June, court records show.

Around midnight on June 9, teen allegedly sneaked into 91-year-old’s home, then beat and sexually assaulted heraccording to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the woman awoke to find the boy inside her home, who allegedly entered through an unlocked door.

The teenager then allegedly punched and groped the victim as she fought back until he stopped.

“In a cruel act of violence, she was beaten and sexually assaulted,” Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods said in June.

Conformable NBC affiliate WESHa neighbor’s video showed the teenager riding his bike past the victim’s home in what appeared to be the same clothing he was wearing at the time of the crime.

Deputies identified the suspect using video evidence and DNA from a rape kit, WESH reported.

“It was shocking that anyone would commit such an act on a 91-year-old man, but it is truly disturbing when we see the young age of the person arrested,” the sheriff added. “While I strongly believe he should be held accountable for his crime, as a father my sympathies go out to his family. Let’s hope his arrest will lead to help preventing further such acts.”

In an interview with detectives over the summer, WESH said the suspect admitted to entering the home, beating and sexually assaulting the woman.

The boy was arrested on charges of sexual assault by someone under 18 on a victim over 12 and burglary of a habitation with battery.

His sentencing is scheduled for the morning of December 19.
