WASHINGTON, DC — Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in an attempted sexual assault that occurred early July 29 in Northwest Washington, DC.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the incident happened around 2:20 a.m. near the intersection of Belmont and 14th streets NW. The suspect allegedly approached the victim, pointed a firearm and assaulted the victim while attempting to perform a forced sexual act.

The suspect was captured on surveillance footage and police have released images in hopes of identifying the individual.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect or incident is urged to contact police by calling (202) 727-9099 or texting anonymous tips to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.
