Thompson Health earns top American Heart Association recognition for workplace wellness

UR Medicine Thompson Health earned the highest recognition, Platinum, in the American Heart Association’s 2024 Well-being Works Better Scorecard, recognizing the healthcare organization’s commitment to promoting a healthy and supportive workplace.

The Scorecard evaluates workplaces based on best practices in health equity, burnout prevention and employee benefits. Companies can receive Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum rankings, with Platinum indicating the highest level of adherence to the Association’s wellness standards. Thompson Health previously won Gold, but has made strategic improvements to achieve Platinum in 2024.

Jennifer DeVault, vice president of Wellness and Services Association, attributed the success to a meticulous gap analysis that identified areas for growth. “Our Wellness team intentionally met the standards to earn Platinum with initiatives like Wellness Wednesdays to promote healthy eating,” said DeVault.

Wellness Coordinator Kristen Seyfried noted the team’s two-year effort to advance from Gold, highlighting new initiatives such as mental health first aid training, support groups and a health survey to address associated needs. Additional benefits include physical activity programs, discounted wellness resources and pet care assistance through TheCare.com.

The American Heart Association’s Scorecard encourages employers across the country to implement science-backed practices to support workforce wellness. For more information and to see the full list of recognized organizations, visit heart.org/workforce.
