One person was killed while another sustained bullet injuries after three men shot at her in north Delhi’s Welcome area, police said on Saturday.

According to reports, the accused men on bicycles were waiting for a man named Nadeem outside his house and opened fire on him as soon as he came out on Friday evening.

Nadeem and another man named Shahnawaz were shot and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Nadeem succumbed to his injuries while Shahnawaz, who was shot in the leg, was out of danger, police said.

Another companion of Nadeem escaped the ambush. The three assailants escaped on the victim’s scooter and took his phone with them, while leaving his bike behind, police added.

Police said they received information about the firing in Kabir Nagar from Welcome and found three empty cartridges and a motorcycle lying on the roadside when they reached the crime scene.

On enquiry, the police were told that the motorcycle belonged to the accused.

Meanwhile, the Police Control Room received another call at 1.26 am from the neighboring Jyoti Nagar area about firing at a house by three men on a scooty.

The complainant told the police that the accused came on a two-wheeler and fired at his house. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Six empty cartridges and one live cartridge were also found there.

Later, the accused were nabbed from the same area, police added.

Police say the accused were involved in a possible financial dispute of Rs 10,000 with the dead.

Two separate cases have been registered against the accused and an investigation has been initiated, police said.
