Part of Auckland’s Southern Freeway was closed after a serious crash near Takanini, while a major road in Te Atatū was also closed.

Emergency responders were working at the scene of the two-car crash near suburban Conifer Grove on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The accident was called around 12:30.

“Initial indications are that one person has been seriously injured,” police said in a statement.

“The freeway is currently closed northbound in the area and diversions are in place.”

Motorists were asked to avoid the area and find another route.

Waitematā accident

A major road in Te Atatū was also closed after a serious crash on Saturday morning, police said.

The accident between a car and a pedestrian was reported to the emergency services at around 11.40am.

One person was seriously injured.

Te Atatū Road was closed between Titoki Street and Royal View Road. Diversions were put in place and drivers told to expect delays.
