Home burglary suspect arrested in Meyerton Farms

MEYERTON – A suspected burglar (20) was arrested in the early hours of October 22 following an incident on Apie Street, Meyerton Farms.

Constable Tlaleng Moloi, spokesman for the Meyerton police, says that according to information received, three unknown men may have gained access to the property by breaking down the garage door.

Once inside the house, they held the occupant at gunpoint and took electrical wires, a mobile phone and all the light bulbs from the property.

Constable Alfred Khathidi and Constable Thabo Mosia of the Meyerton SAPS responded quickly and as a result a suspect was arrested and charged with house robbery.

The other two suspects managed to escape. According to Moloi, the arrested suspect will be profiled at the police station to determine if he was involved in other criminal activities in Meyeron and surrounding areas. He is expected to appear in the Meyerton Magistrates Court soon.

Meyerton Station Commander Colonel Senzangakhona Christopher Mohale praised the prompt reaction of the members involved which led to the apprehension of the suspect.

“This is a warning to all criminals dealing in property crime. Eventually the law will catch up with you and we will arrest you,” he concluded.
