Jefferson County man survives ax attack in home; suspect arrested

A man was arrested this week after allegedly attacking another man with a hatchet in unincorporated Jefferson County, according to sheriff’s deputies.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that deputies responded to a home in the unincorporated town of Kittredge Thursday night after a 911 caller said 35-year-old Bradley Lindsey told them as they walked down the street to “call the police if they heard gunshots. .”

When deputies arrived, they found Lindsey covered in blood and an injured 61-year-old man who investigators believe Lindsey attacked with a hatchet, according to the news release.

The homeowner told deputies he didn’t know Lindsey, but that Lindsey knocked on the door and talked about “taking care” of the victim, who was a tenant in the home and was in the process of being evicted.

Lindsey was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, deputies said. As of Friday morning, he had not yet been formally charged and was being held at the Jefferson County Jail.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and has since been released, sheriff’s officials said.
