Crime Victim Support Center hosts 45th anniversary celebration

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — To celebrate 45 years of supporting members of our community, the Crime Victim Assistance Center or CVAC hosted a celebration earlier this evening at the Holiday Inn in downtown Binghamton.

Past and present members of the support center joined each other to celebrate their long milestone.

12 News spoke with Christine Battisti, CVAC’s executive director about the resources they have available to the community and how they encourage the public to use those resources.

“There are so many people who don’t know about our services and so many people suffer in silence. So really, this is a time to show that if someone is struggling or in an abusive relationship and wants help, they can reach out to us. And all our services are free and confidential, and we’re really just here to support survivors and victims.” Christine Battisti said.

They said tonight’s event was a tribute to all the lives that have been uplifted and affected by the support center’s efforts.
