President Joe Biden addressed the nation Thursday morning to discuss The loss of Vice President Kamala Harris of the 2024 presidential election and the upcoming transition to power of President-elect Donald Trump.

The speech came a day later Biden congratulated Trump his victory on the phone Wednesday and invited him to the White House to discuss the presidential transition period — an offer Trump turned down Biden after the 2020 race. A date for the meeting has not yet been disclosed, as staff will coordinate one in the near future.

President Joe Biden addressed the nation for the first time since the 2024 presidential election.

In his remarks, which lasted about six minutes, Biden affirmed his commitment to a peaceful transition of power, praised the election as free and fair, and praised election workers for overseeing the voting process.

Harris and Trump deliver speeches after election results

Harris delivered it concession speech Wednesday at Howard University where she accepted that the election results were not in her favor. She encouraged supporters not to give in to despair and instead mobilize.

“While I acknowledge this election, I do not acknowledge the struggle that fueled this campaign,” she said. “We will continue to fight this fight in the voting booth, in the courts and in the public square, and we will also fight it in quieter ways, in the way we live our lives, treating each other with kindness and respect.” .

Trump gave his victory speech at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in Florida, where he promised voters that his administration will not rest “until we deliver the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children and which you deserve”.
