Sixers host Tyrese Maxey to miss multiple weeks with hamstring injury

Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey did not play in the fourth quarter of the team’s loss to the LA Clippers on Wednesday night and is expected to miss several weeks with a soft tissue injury in his right hamstring, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported.

“They have to be very careful with it, not rush it back, and that’s what they’re doing,” Charania said on “Inside the NBA.”

The former Kentucky guard is averaging a career-best 27.6 points on 41 percent shooting and 29 percent from deep. He leads the league in minutes per game (39.7) while carrying a heavy load.

Joel Embiid has yet to play for the Sixers this season due to “left knee injury management” and will face a minutes restriction when he returns. Knicks Tuesday.

Paul George made his debut Wednesday in the loss to the Clippers after missing time with a bone bruise in his left knee.

The Sixers (1-6) visit LeBron James and the Lakers on Friday before returning home to host the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday and then Knicks.
