07 November 2024

The WELL International Building Institute has introduced a new building health assessment specifically for co-working spaces.

Fountain Coworking The rating, administered by The Instant Group, measures more than 50 well-being characteristics such as air and water quality, lighting and thermal comfort, and occupant fitness and nutrition.

This is the first WELL assessment of its kind for operators of flexible workspaces.

Launching the new rating at the WELL Regional Summit in London, the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) showcased organizations committed to being the first to use the new offering, including Koba, Landmark, Clockwise and Iconic Offices.

A 2024 report by CoworkingCafe shows that there are more than 3,300 coworking spaces in the UK and Ireland, almost double the number of coworking spaces per capita than in the United States. In 2019, before the pandemic, only 4.7% of UK employees were working from home or hybrid, but 13% will be working from home full time by 2022.

IWBI President and CEO Rachel Hodgdon said: “Everyone deserves a healthy workplace that supports their physical and mental well-being and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with The Instant Group to extend the reach of science-backed WELL strategies with our first cohort. of dedicated market leaders.”
