Dak Prescott may need season-ending hamstring surgery, report says (Video)

Dak Prescott injured his right hamstring on Sunday, and the news just got worse for the Dallas Cowboys.

Sunday, his forecast it was unclear after the match. On monday, it was reported that he will have to miss several games. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Tuesday admitted Prescott was likely headed to injured reservewhich would force him to miss at least four of the 3-5 Cowboys’ remaining nine games.

And on Wednesday, the question now becomes whether Prescott will play again this season.

The The Dallas Morning News reports Prescott suffered a partial avulsion of his right hamstring tendon, an injury serious enough that team officials are trying to determine if he needs surgery on the portion of the tendon that was torn from the bone. If surgery is necessary, it will likely end Prescott’s season.

The defender is reportedly seeking a second opinion on the injury before a decision is made.

Prescott’s injury occurred at the end of the third trimester during the Cowboys 27-21 loss at the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. He said after the game that he “felt a pull” in his hamstring that he had never felt before and had trouble walking.

A major injury to Prescott would be the biggest blow yet to the Cowboys’ disappointing season, though the quarterback hasn’t been thriving either. He has 1,978 passing yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions in eight games so far, with a 64.7 completion percentage, which is his worst mark since 2017.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are also dealing with injuries to CeeDee Lamb (shoulder), Micah Parsons (ankle), DaRon Bland (foot) and others. They currently sit in third place in the NFC East with divisional matchups in three of their next four games, a very bad time to be down at starting quarterback.

Cooper Rush will take over for Prescott however long he’s out as the Cowboys try to find a way to salvage their season. Their only deal at the trade deadline was a acquiring wide receiver Jonathan Mingo from the Carolina Panthers Tuesday.
