Rahul Gandhi claims RSS, BJP covertly attacking Constitution, says caste census will raise 50% ceiling ‘inevitably’

Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi stepped up his criticism of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Wednesday, accusing it of orchestrating “secret” attacks on the Constitution.

Speaking at the ‘Samvidhan Sanman Sammelan’ in Nagpur, Gandhi argued that the RSS lacks the courage to openly attack the Constitution, opting instead for covert action against what is not just a book but the ‘mantra of life’ given to the nation by Dr BR. Ambedkar.

“The RSS and the Bharatiya Janata Party are constantly bashing this Constitution… The RSS is doing it secretly because they know that if they do it directly, then it’s game over,” Gandhi says. he stated.

He further emphasized that ‘Samvidhan’ embodies the vision of luminaries like Lord Gautam Buddha, Emperor Ashoka, Mahatma Basaveshwara, Chhatrapati Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Savitribai Phule and Mahatma Gandhi.

According to Gandhi, these historical figures espoused ideas rooted in respect for all castes, religions, people and regions.

Rahul Gandhi claimed that a small group is imposing “injustice” on 90% of the population, adding that “our struggle is against this” injustice, “for which a caste census is needed to ensure justice for all.

He continued his criticism by claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was losing sleep over the Congress demand for a caste census.

“Every time I bring it up, they accuse me of dividing the country. The RSS is also confused about what stance to take. Regardless of the opposition, a caste census to lift the 50% reservation cap is inevitable,” he said.
