The manhunt ends with the capture of the Pelham Woods burglary suspect

PELHAM – A man suspected of burglarizing a Pelham home was apprehended after a nearly three-hour manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies on Nov. 5.

Pelham Police officers responded to a call at approximately 3:56 pm about a residential burglary on Stevens Road.

The homeowner, monitoring the situation remotely via camera, provided live updates to send about the suspect’s location in the home.

When police arrived and set up a perimeter, they ordered the male suspect out of the residence.

He complied, but then fled on foot, leading officers into nearby woods, where he initially managed to evade capture.

Assistance was requested from Salem NH Police Department and Dracut Police Department officers, including those assigned by local election.

The public was alerted to the ongoing search through Tip411 notifications and social media, with advice to stay indoors and secure their homes.

Law enforcement officers deployed infrared cameras, an infrared drone and a K9 unit from the Salem Police Department in the pursuit.

The suspect, later identified as David Moscat, 28, of Lawrence, MA, was located and detained in the woods between Island Pond Road and Diamond Hill Road.

The capture was credited to Salem Police K9 “Dash” and Pelham officers.

Moscat suffered an injury to his left arm from a K9 bite during the arrest and was transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center by the Pelham Fire Department.

After treatment, he was booked into the Pelham Police Department on charges of burglary, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and theft by unauthorized taking.

Held without bail, Moscat was taken to the Valley Street Jail in Manchester with an arraignment scheduled for 8:00 a.m. Nov. 6 in Salem District Court.

Lt. Brian Barbato expressed his gratitude for the interagency cooperation and community support during the incident.
