Man seriously injured in suspected hit-and-run on US-101 in Humboldt County

A 23-year-old Fortuna man was found with major injuries on US-101 early Wednesday morning, prompting an investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

CHP Humboldt Area received a call at 3:17 a.m. about an injured man lying in the southbound lanes of US-101 at Greenlaw Vista Point, just north of Jordan Creek. Officers arrived to find Max Wolfe, 23, of Fortuna, suffering from major injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

The agency said Wolfe was transported by emergency medical personnel to Providence St. Joseph for treatment.

The hit and run suspect is under active investigation. The CHP is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the vehicle involved.
