FEMA is looking to lease property in East Tennessee for those displaced by Helene

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Federal Emergency Management Agency, better known as FEMA, is asking East Tennessee property owners to rent homes.

Agency officials said Monday that FEMA needs to lease units and houses ready for occupancy to temporarily house those affected by Hurricane Helene.

In late September, the storm moved across eastern Tennessee, bringing with it massive flooding and displacing thousands of people.

Specifically, FEMA is looking for properties in Carter, Cocke, Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins, Johnson, Unicoi and Washington counties. The agency also said it is prioritizing facilities within an hour of storm-affected areas.

Interested individuals or management companies have until November 25 to request more information from FEMA. Properties must meet several conditions, however, to meet more quality standards.

Those interested are asked to email [email protected] with “RFI #70FBR425I00000003TN” as the subject line.
