Christina Applegate and more celebrities react to the loss of Kamala Harris

Former President Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election against Vice President Kamala Harris in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Since then, plenty of celebrities have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the highly anticipated result.

“Please don’t follow me if you voted against women’s suffrage,” Christina Applegate wrote through X wednesday morning

“Against the rights of disabled people. Yes this. Don’t follow me because what you did is unreal. I don’t want followers like this. So yes. Made. Also, after today I’m going to close this fan account I’ve had for so many years because it’s sick.”

Meanwhile, “One Tree Hill” actress Sophia Bush denounced the “MAGA gang” by posting a link showing that the former president of the evangelical nonprofit MAGA, Jason Yates, had been arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography.

“Great job giving the MAGA gang more power, America,” Bush said wrote through X. “I wonder how many people see this and STILL say ‘But, but at least he’s not a black woman!’ in the privacy of their homes tonight. My heart is broken .”

Cardi B too had a strong reaction to the loss of Harris after publicly endorsing it at a rally in Milwaukee, Wis., last week.

“I hate you all bad,” she told those voters who specifically voted for Trump in the battleground state of Georgia.

The “I Like It” rapper also shared her reactions to the results before Trump came out ahead and admitted she was “very sad.”

“Anyway, I know (Harris is) probably emotional right now,” she said via Instagram Live. “I know there’s probably a lot going on in her mind and I know she’s not listening to it, but she’ll see it eventually. I just hope she knows, no matter what happens tonight, millions of people are proud of her. Women all over the world are proud of her. Black women are proud of her.”

Andy Cohen called out the Republicans –– including Trump –– who claimed Trump’s 2020 loss to President Joe Biden was “rigged,” by asking his X followers“so the election ISN’T rigged????”

The Bravo personality later clarified his remarks via sharing a sweet video with his son and telling him: “We love our country, yes. We will persist, we will move forward.”

Lili Reinhart took to social media to focus on Trump’s previous allegations — including at least 26 women who publicly accuse the future president of some form of sexual assault.

“I can’t understand the feeling of the women who came forward about being sexually assaulted by Trump,” she. wrote on X. “Seeing millions vote for their abuser. My heart breaks for these women. I believe you and I’m so sorry.”

Bette Midler shared his thoughts quoting a passage from the American journalist Henry Louis Mencken, which said in part: “When a candidate for public office faces the voters, he does not face good men; he encounters a lot of people whose chief distinguishing mark is that they are unable to weigh ideas or even to understand anything but the most basic.”

The journalist went on to write that the man who becomes president is often “the most cunning and mediocre”.

Meanwhile, “High Fidelity” actor John Cusack took a more direct view writing through X“that the country would choose to destroy itself by voting in a convicted murderer, rapist and Nazi is a sign of profound nihilism.

“Glee” actor Kevin McHale reflected on the likelihood that Trump will end up appointing more conservative Supreme Court justices during his tenure and he wrote“The Supreme Court is gone for the rest of my life. Ultra-conservative evangelical bigotry, xenophobia, racism is the mandate.”

Former “Community” actress Yvette Nicole Brown also spoke about the “shame” of her home state of Ohio, which elected first-time US Senate candidate Bernie Moreno over 2007 Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown.

“It’s a shame on a level I can’t even quantify,” she posted on X. “My home state of Ohio elected a murderer. And it seems this nation elects a murderer. AmeriKKKa appears tonight. Just showing.”

Author Stephen King added in a post on social media: “There’s a sign you can see in many shops that sell beautiful but fragile items: GREAT TO LOOK AT, SO TO HOLD, BUT SOMETIMES BROKEN, THEN IT’S SOLD . You can say the same about democracy.”

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy went on a rampage about his “sparkling reactions” to Trump’s long-running “demolition” of Harris. Instagram post shared late Tuesday night.

“People like me, independent or moderate, the Democrats didn’t give us a choice,” he said. “The Democrats didn’t give us a choice. This was the worst campaign and their sheer arrogance and moral superiority drove people away. If you say you’re voting for Trump, suddenly you’re a Nazi, you’re Hitler, you’re trash. Enough, enough!”

Portnoy went on to blast Harris and her party for “alienating all these middle people by acting like you’re better” than other people and “insulting our honest intelligence”.

More Stars –– including Taylor SwiftDick Van Dyke and Beyoncé –– have all publicly supported Harris, but many have not commented on the loss.

Trump became the projected winner early Wednesday morning after winning the coveted battlegrounds of Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

The businessman will become the 47th president of the United States after previously serving as the 45th president when he defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016. He then lost to President Joe Biden in 2020.

Trump thanked the “American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected” ahead of his official victory during a celebration at his Mar-a-Lago estate on Wednesday morning.
