The prosecutor’s office in the county of St. Louis issued charges Oct. 25 against suspect Richard Meshell, 50, of the 1000 block of Wachtel Avenue, for first-degree robbery and resisting arrest for a felony.

Meshell is being held on $75,000 cash only bond, no 10 percent.

Allegations are just allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

According to a probable cause statement, at 11:13 a.m. on Oct. 25, Meshell was identified as the person who entered Century Credit Union, 1540 Lemay Ferry Road, and presented a note threatening harm if not gave money Meshell’s hand was in his pocket and he made a motion as if armed with a firearm.

The incident was caught on video.

Police spotted Meshell nearby and ordered him to stop. Meshell, however, tried to flee on his scooter. In doing so, he ran over the officer, injuring him.

Meshell was found in possession of the money from the bank and the note that was used. He also had a can opener in his pocket.

Meshell admitted the offence.
