Nairobi family baffled as Ugandan maid allegedly sets up armed burglar

  • A family in Eastleigh, Nairobi was shocked when their Ugandan domestic helper, Everlyne, allegedly collaborated with a thug to break into their home.
  • The robber, armed with a hammer, gained access to the family’s sixth-floor Ushirika Tower residence on November 1 with Everlyne’s help.
  • The intruder, assisted by Everlyne, assaulted a 20-year-old domestic worker who was in the house at the time.

A family from Eastleigh, Nairobiwas left in total shock after their Ugandan domestic help colluded with a thug to break into their home to steal.

It emerged that the thug, who was armed with a hammer, managed to get into Ushirika Tower in Eastleigh on Friday, November 1. After gaining entry, he went to an apartment on the sixth floor with the assistance of the housekeeper named Everlyne.

After gaining access to the home, the intruder began by assaulting a 20-year-old domestic helper with Everylyne’s help.

“Various valuables were stolen during the incident, including gold jewellery, an unspecified amount of cash in both KES and US dollars and four laptops belonging to the family which were reported stolen during the incident,” DCI said.

Everlyne had joined Eastleigh family three weeks before this incident which left the other domestic helper with serious injuries.

Fortunately, the owner of the house was not at home at the time of the incident; he went out with his children while his wife was in India for medical treatment.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to gather more details about the incident and the whereabouts of the suspects.
