Crews in Blagdon are tackling a car fire involving 20 vehicles

Firefighters are tackling a fire which has involved 20 cars in a yard in North Somerset.

Avon Fire and Rescue was called at 00:53 GMT to reports of a fire on Bourne Lane in Blagdon.

In a statement, the fire service said: “Crews from Bedminster, Weston-super-Mare, Blagdon, Winscombe and Yatton used high pressure water hoses to bring the fire under control and breathing apparatus to fight the fire. .

“A crew is still on scene making it safe. The fire is believed to have been accidental and fortunately there were no casualties.”

It comes on a busy night for firefighters with a fire at a large storage building at Worle Quarry in Weston-super-Mare.

The fire service said in a statement: “Crews were called at 08:18 GMT on November 5 and used high-volume water pumps and water jets to bring the fire under control.

“The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental ignition and crews remain at the scene of the fire and continue to make the site safe.”
