“Good Samaritans” were shot while assisting the vehicle on the side of the road in Mpumalanga

The victims had their own gun stolen after they were shot, and police warned drivers to consider their own safety before helping others.

Two men were shot after they pulled up next to a parked vehicle in the early hours of this morning.

The brothers opened fire along the R40 near the Kruger National Park at about 2.30am.

Described as “good Samaritans” by police, the victims were familiar with the vehicle they stopped to help and were later robbed at gunpoint.

Roadside assistance

Police report that the victims stopped near the vehicle because they believed the occupants needed assistance.

As soon as they stopped, an unknown gunman opened fire on the men, wounding one in the lower body and the other in the back.

Safety first

If members of the public have information about the shooting, they are asked to contact police as soon as possible.

The Acting Commissioner urged members of the community to contact the authorities first before putting themselves in potentially dangerous situations.

A man hit a pedestrian

Meanwhile, a man was hit by a car earlier this year while trying to help a pedestrian who had allegedly been hit by a taxi.

Getting out of another passing taxi, the man was hit while trying to pull the pedestrian out of the way, reported by North Coast Courier.

IPSS Medical Rescue’s Samantha Meyrick reported that both men suffered critical injuries.

“Both patients, who are in their 30s, were stabilized at the scene and transported to hospital under the care of advanced life support paramedics,” Meyrick said.
