Singer Sharda Sinha on ventilator: PM Modi assures help for treatment

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently contacted the family of renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha to inquire about her health and extended all necessary support for her ongoing treatment. The celebrated artiste, known for her soulful folk performances during the Chhath festival, is seriously ill and is currently being treated at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.

Her son Anshuman Sinha has been keeping fans updated on her health through social media. In a conversation with ANI, Anshuman confirmed that PM Modi has personally assured him of all necessary support for his mother’s treatment. The declining health of the popular singer has sparked widespread concern among fans and well-wishers.

72-year-old Sharda Sinha has been battling multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, since 2018. Her condition deteriorated on Monday, requiring the placement of a ventilator. According to an official release from AIIMS, the singer is “hemodynamically stable but under constant monitoring”.

Sharda Sinha, also known as Bihar Kokila, is an acclaimed Indian folk singer celebrated for her contribution to Bhojpuri, Maithili and Magahi music. She played a significant role in popularizing the traditional music of Bihar. Some of her most famous songs include Kahe Toh Se Sajna and Pehle Pahil Hum Kayeni. She was honored with the Padma Bhushan in 2018 for her contributions to Indian music and culture.
