5 charged in theft ring targeting Dollar General in Grand Bay

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office has arrested five people in connection with what authorities said was an organized theft ring that targeted a Dollar General store in Grand Bay

Authorities said they were contacted Oct. 10 about a possible organized theft ring operating at the store at 10477 Ramsey Road.

Since the store opened on March 26, 2023, it has lost a total of $385,246 worth of inventory, according to MCSO. Through many hours of video surveillance, detectives identified store assistant manager Brittany Forrest and store associate Calie Kent, as well as three non-employees – Carl Kent, Ophia Gordon and Irial Forrest – as those believed to be that they were involved in the crime. MCSO said the three non-employees are family or friends of the two store employees.

The five were arrested on Thursday.

All are charged with organized retail theft and are due back in court on Tuesday.

Additional arrests are possible, MCSO said.
