The victims, Agent Victor (only given name) and the unidentified civilian were taken to nearby hospitals where they were pronounced dead by doctors.

Two people, including a Delhi Police constable, were killed after a speeding DTC bus rammed them in north Delhi on Monday night.

Police said the officer was on patrol duty when the accident happened around 10:30 p.m. near Monastery Square.

“We received a number of PCR calls about the DTC bus accident in which two deaths were reported. Outside the Monastery Square, I noticed an uncontrolled DTC bus running on the sidewalk. First he hit a billboard pole and broke it. Then he hit two people. The bus later crossed the road and crashed into a divider,” said Raja Banthia, DCP (North).

The victims, Agent Victor (who goes by one name) and the unidentified civilian, were taken to nearby hospitals where they were pronounced dead by doctors.

Police said Victor, a native of Nagaland, was posted at the Civil Lines police station since June this year.

“He was on patrol duty on a PCR bike. We are trying to get details of the second deceased,” said an officer.

The accused driver was detained at the scene. Kumar has been working with DTC since 2010. The bus was running from Sarai Kale Khan to Nand Nagri area.

“The bus was in a broken down condition and there was no passenger in the bus. Legal action is taken up in the case,” the DCP added.
