A pedestrian has died in an early morning crash on Highway 140 in Jackson County

Just before 6 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident on Highway 140 near Dean Creek Road in Jackson County.

The preliminary investigation indicated that an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado driven by Anthony Joseph Grubb, 44, of Grants Pass, struck a pedestrian, Robert Allen Dishman, 68, of Yreka, Calif., who was crossing the highway. Grubb remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police said the pedestrian, Dishman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Grubb was not injured.

The freeway was affected for approximately 2.5 hours while the on-scene investigation took place.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
