ForbesToday’s NYT “Connections” Tips and Answers for Monday, November 4th

“Remember, remember, November 5,” goes an old saying in Britain, because that’s Guy Fawkes night. We’re going to have fireworks on both sides of the Atlantic this year, given today’s US election. I hope you exercise your right to vote if you can. Fingers crossed that the process goes as smoothly as possible. I’m sure it’s going to be a late night for a lot of people, including those of us who aren’t American or from the US

Today NYT CONNECTIONS Hints and answers for Tuesday, November 5, coming soon.

How to play Connections

CONNECTIONS is a free, popular New York Times daily pun. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on NYT website or the Games app.

You are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by discovering the connections between them. Groups could be things like clickable items, names for research study participants, or words preceded by a body part.

There’s only one solution to each puzzle, and you’ll have to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can mix the words to perhaps help you see the connections between them.

Each group has a color code. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, the blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult. The purple group often involves puns.

Select four words that you think go together and hit send. If you make a guess and get it wrong, you’ll lose a life. If you’re close to getting a group right, you might see a message telling you that you have one more word to get right, but you’ll still have to figure out which one to change.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with some hints, and if you’re really struggling, today’s one CONNECTIONS answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social networks and group chats.

If you have one NYT All Access subscription or Games, you can access CONNECTIONS archive. This includes every previous game of CONNECTIONSso you can go back and play any you missed.

Other than the top 60 games, you should be able to find my suggestions for each grid via Google if you need them! Only click here and add the date of the game for which you need hints or the answers to the search query.

What are the current connections responses?

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s CONNECTIONS answers.

This is your last warning!

Today CONNECTIONS the answers are…

  • Yellow group – things that are unclear (CATERPILLAR, FLEECE, PIERSIC, PIPE CLEANER)
  • Green group – things with shells (SHELL, EGG, WALNUT, TURTLE)
  • The blue group — figures in Shrek (DONKEY, DRAGON, ogre, princess)
  • Purple group — magic ____ (CARPET, KINGDOM, MARKER, mushroom)

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a perfect game today, but my winning streak is up to nine. Here’s how I did it:

I felt a smile creep across my face as I dipped into the grid and saw so many Super Mario related words – mushroom, kingdom, turtle, peach, princess and donkey. I wasn’t immediately sure how to put them together or even if they formed a group.

However, seeing MUSHROOM and KINGDOM (a key location in the Mario games) next to each other on the grid was a bit of a red flag considering how CONNECTIONS usually works to suggest possible red herrings.

As such, I started by getting the greens as they were pretty simple. “Magic” came to mind when I looked at CARPET again and found three other words that match that for purple. Unfortunately, I went with DRAGON on my first guess, then swapped the mushroom for MARKER before I got the combo right.

After that, the blues became clear to me. Then we got the yellows for the win.

So my suspicion that there wasn’t a Super Mario-related word group was correct.

That’s all there is for today CONNECTIONS clues and answers. Be sure to check it out my blog for hints and the walkthrough for Wednesday’s game if you need them.

P.S Date it’s such a wonderful movie and the first song that will come to mind from it for most people is “Falling Slowly”. I really like the song, but the whole soundtrack is fantastic.

Glen Hansard has such a powerful voice. I saw him captivate a theater performing “Leave” with zero amplification, just him and a guitar and no microphone. The recorded version is also sublime:
