Elyria crash victim released from hospital gets new bike

ELYRIA, Ohio (WOIO) – 10-year-old Elyria crash victim Aiden Helland got a brand new bike Thursday night.

Aiden has been released from the hospital and is recovering from injuries he received in a accident of October 12 that tragically took the life of his friend, 9-year-old Bryant “Tide” Bartlett.

Officers presented Aiden with a new bike and helmet, courtesy of Walmart in Elyria, along with Halloween treats and gift cards donated by the Sailorway Middle School PTA in Vermilion.

Aiden also received bike locks, lights and other safety items from Lorain County Public Health through the Elyria Safe Routes to School program.

The Elyria Police Department would like to express its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Bryant “Tide” Bartlett.

Elyria police said the investigation remains open and ongoing.
