Chris Martin falls on stage during Coldplay’s concert in Australia at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, video shows

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin dramatically collapsed during a show in Australia before emerging from a hole in the stage apparently unharmed.

Video of the incident posted on social media showed Martin addressing the crowd at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Sunday as he walked around during a break between songs before suddenly disappearing from view.

His fall appears to be broken by someone standing below the stage, and Martin soon returns to a standing position.

“This is not planned. Thank you for catching me, so much. Thank you guys,” Martin said.

“Hell, it was almost a YouTube moment,” he added.

Martin then continued with the show, which was the fourth and final concert in Melbourne as part of Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres world tour.

The first show in the city was also marked by an unfortunate development, as bassist Guy Berryman was absent due to illness.

“Tonight was the first time in our band history that we played a show without all four members on stage,” Coldplay said in an Instagram post.

“The guy unexpectedly got sick right before the show. Thanks for helping us get through this.”

The band will next play four dates in Sydney before moving to Auckland, New Zealand.

The tour will conclude with 10 shows at Wembley Stadium in London, starting on August 22 next year.

Martin’s accident comes after a similar incident with the singer Olivia Rodrigo at a recent show at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.

The American pop star was running around the stage lit only by a spotlight when she suddenly dove into a hole, appearing to catch herself using her arms.
