20-year-old Lebanon man charged with killing 2 in Marion County crash

LEBANON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Lebanon man faces multiple charges after he allegedly crashed head-on into another car Saturday night in Marion County, killing a man and a woman.

It happened around 6:20 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Jessietown Road in Marion County, according to the Kentucky State Police (KSP).

Troopers said an initial investigation showed Erick Garcia, 20, of Lebanon, was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram westbound on US 68 when he allegedly crossed the center line of the highway, entered in the eastbound lane and left the road.

KSP said Garcia drove his truck back onto the road in the eastbound lane and allegedly crashed head-on into a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Roy Wright, 75, of Lebanon.

Roy Wright was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He was driving with a passenger, Deborah Wright, 72, of Lebanon, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Coroner’s Office, according to a news release.

Garcia was arrested and charged with the following:

  • First degree vehicular manslaughter

  • Assault in the first degree

  • First degree endangerment

  • Driving under the influence – first offense

Law enforcement officials said Garcia also faced other traffic felony charges. He was booked into the Marion County Detention Center on Saturday.

An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
