Canadian MP Chandra Arya shared a video of an attack on a Hindu temple

Canada’s Member of Parliament (MP) Chandra Arya, who often raises issues of attacks on Hindus, accused Khalistani extremists of crossing a red line by attacking the Hindu temple in Brampton.

Videos circulating on social media show groups of protesters, including Khalistan supporters and others waving the Indian national flag, clashing on the premises of the Hindu temple Sabha Mandir.

“The attack by Khalistanis on Hindu-Canadian devotees on the premises of the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton shows how deep and reckless Khalistani violent extremism has become in Canada,” Arya said.

“I am beginning to feel that there is a small grain of truth to the reports that, in addition to the Canadian political apparatus, the Khalistanis have effectively infiltrated our law enforcement agencies,” he added.

Arya argued that under “freedom of expression” Khalistani extremists get a free pass in Canada and urged Hindu-Canadians to step up and assert their rights and hold politicians accountable for security.

In a video he shared with the post on X, people carrying Khalistani flags can be seen entering the temple premises and beating those inside the premises with sticks and flags in hand.

Meanwhile, the Indian High Commission accused “anti-India elements” of violently disrupting routine consular work at a camp co-organized by the Hindu Sabha Mandir and called it “deeply disappointing”.

The event drew widespread condemnation from various political figures, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, opposition leader Pierre Poilievre and Toronto MP Kevin Vuong.

The incident comes amid strained relations between Canada and India following Trudeau’s claims of “credible allegations” linking Indian government agents to the death of Khalistani separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
