A Mooroopna man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Echuca at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to a McSwain Road property in the northern Victorian city about 7.30pm on Saturday.

Homicide Squad detectives were called to investigate after the body of a 56-year-old Echuca man was found at the scene.

Aaron James Hare, 30, was arrested at the scene and later charged with murder.

Victoria Police said the men were known to each other.

Mr Hare faced Bendigo Magistrates Court on Monday and the matter is due back in court on May 12.
