The town of D’Iberville is coming together to provide food and supplies for Hurricane Helene victims

D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (WLOX) – The city of D’Iberville is offering aid to those affected by Hurricane Helene as they send food and supplies to Florida.

D’Iberville city employees, police, fire and public works officials packed trailers full of food and donated items for those affected by Helene in Madison, Florida, a town of about 3,000 people.

“We have about 500 hamburger patties, 280 pounds of pulled pork, and we come with toppings and stuff like that,” Public Works Director Bobby Simmons said. “We’re just trying to help feed. We also have two large utility trailers full of supplies that we bring into the area to help.”

Supplies were donated by Scarlet Pearl, D’Iberville Youth Council, Gollott’s Seafood, CenterPoint Energy, Neel-Schaffer and Walmart Supercenter.

Volunteers say this was an easy effort for them to get behind because of their experience with Hurricanes Camille and Katrina.

“Obviously, we know the struggles of hurricanes, you know, and it’s a good opportunity to come together to show other cities on the coast that we like to help out in times of need and whatever,” said D’Iberville Fire Department Lt. James Harvey. said.

Volunteers with the relief effort leave at 3:00 a.m. Monday morning to bring supplies to the affected victims.
