Trump campaigns on the East Coast; Harris hits Michigan

Obama criticized Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., for their efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

If you ask Donald Trump what he’s going to do to make health care more affordable, he has only one answer, and finally, repeal the Affordable Care Act,” Obama said. “And he’s not alone. The other day, the Speaker of the House, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, said, “There would be no Obamacare if Trump wins.”

Obama said they were unsuccessful in their efforts because the act works.

“Now, none of them can really explain why they want to end it, except that we did it,” Obama said.

Johnson has denied that he wants to repeal the Affordable Care Act, telling NBC News today that it’s a “dishonest characterization” of what he said.

“The audio and the transcript make it clear that I made no such promise to end Obamacare and, in fact, admitted that the policy is ‘deeply entrenched’ in our health care system,” Johnson said.

“However, House Republicans will always seek to reduce costs and improve the quality and availability of health care for all Americans. Anyone who has been a patient or known a loved one who has struggled with health issues understands why this is so important.” the speaker added.

Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said in a statement tonight that “repealing Obamacare is not President Trump’s policy position.”

“As President Trump has said, he will improve our health care system by increasing transparency, promoting choice and competition, and expanding access to new health care options and affordable insurance. Kamala Harris broke our health care system, President Trump will fix it.” Leavitt said.
