Suspect charged in Beaumont shooting

A shooting victim is recovering in a hospital, and the accused gunman is behind bars and facing charges, according to Sgt. Tom Swope provided KFDM/Fox 4 News.

John Wayne Dixon Junior, 27, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A judge set bond at $20,000. If convicted of the 2nd degree felony, Dixon could face 2-20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

The investigation began at 9:40 p.m. Saturday when officers responded to a shooting victim at 1075 Pinchbeck, Timbers Edge Apartments.

Police found the shot victim and the alleged shooter at the scene.

Sgt. Swope says it appears the shooting stemmed from an altercation between the two individuals who knew each other.

EMS treated the gunshot victim before transporting him to the hospital.

Police arrested the accused gunman.

Crime scene technicians worked with police to gather evidence.
