The US State Department issues a travel advisory for this popular winter destination

If you want to venture into the scenic lands of Greenland this winter, do so with caution.

The US State Department has issued a level two travel warning for Greenland, encouraging Americans to “exercise increased caution” in light of “environmental hazards posed by extreme weather conditions and limited emergency services,” the agency’s website details .

“The weather can be harsh and resources to provide emergency services in areas far from cities and large settlements, including search and rescue, are limited. In some areas, search and rescue efforts could take several days to reach the scene,” the site said.
