During a meeting with 211 nodal officers, 90 group officers and their police counterparts at Guru Nanak Bhawan, the DC and both the SSPs emphasized the importance of reaching out to every farmer to discourage them from burning stubble and contributing to environmental degradation .

Jorwal encouraged the officers to spread the message of the stubble fire campaign in their respective areas to promote a cleaner environment. He referred to the upcoming Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and urged the farmers to follow his teachings by eliminating stubble burning problem in the state. He quoted the message conveyed by Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji: “Pawan Guru, Paani Pita, Mata Dharat Mahat”.

Jorwal further advised the nodal and cluster officers to maintain their awareness campaigns in a manner that inculcates a sense of responsibility and duty towards nature among the farmers. He stressed the need for them to prioritize extensive visits to their areas in the next 15 days to ensure that no farmer indulges in stubble burning. He also mentioned that no farmer should be overlooked and that even those living in remote areas should have access to farm equipment needed to manage stubble in their fields.

Gotyal and Bains also instructed the police counterparts of the civilian teams to conduct daily foot marches in their respective areas to discourage stubble burning, which poses a significant threat to both human health and the environment.
