GEORGE – South Africans have welcomed the news that a man linked to the criminal underworld has been shot dead.

Mark Lifman (57) was shot dead in the parking lot of the Garden Route shopping center earlier on Sunday, November 3.

The 57-year-old man is said to have been a prominent figure in organized crime circles in the country.

Lifman was a dark figure

Prior to his assassination, Lifman was facing multiple charges, including murder, attempted murder, money laundering and gang-related offenses.

He was to appear in Western Cape High Court on Monday, November 4.

Along with security company owner Andre Naude and alleged Sexy Boys gang leader Jerome ‘Donkie’ Booysen Lifman faced allegations in connection with alleged underworld wars for control of nightclubs.

The trio was specifically accused of murdering Brian Wainstein, the “Steroid King”, in August 2017.

South Africans celebrate Lifman’s death

Social media users showed no sympathy for Lifman, saying he understood what was coming to him.

Adrienne Ceruti said:

“The suspects have already been apprehended, but goodbye to the worst of the worst. You live by the sword; die by the sword. I’m sorry, I’m not sorry.”

Viki Nomonde April added:

“Grandma used to say, you reap what you sow.”

Anton Nielsen said:

“If you live by the gun, you will die by the gun. Welcome to the Wild West.”

Lifman appears in court

In a related article, News in brief reported how security has been tightened at the Western Cape High Court.

Security was beefed up ahead of the appearance of two alleged crime bosses and their co-accused.

Nafiz Modack and 14 others were in one courtroom, while Mark Lifman, Jerome Booysen and their 12 co-defendants were in another.
