Russian propagandists used the holiday theme to mislead the Western and Ukrainian public

Kremlin Telegram channels began sharing the purported new cover of German political satire magazine Titanic for October, depicting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a caricature style. In the picture, he is holding a pumpkin basket of candy, “stolen” from children celebrating Halloween. The image is accompanied by the caption “Ukraine needs more.”

This cover is fake as it was not officially published Titanic website. The the real issue of October of the magazine was published at the end of September and it looked different.

The cover of the November issue, which was released on the eve of Halloween, features former Liverpool manager and now Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull Jurgen Klopp. The problem is called “He can’t say no! Jurgen Klopp becomes head of Hezbollah.”

Pro-war Russian Telegram channels recently reported that the uniforms of enlisted military officers were being sold in Ukraine, claiming it was the most “scary” outfit for such a holiday. For proof, the fakers shared a screenshot of an ad on the OLX marketplace, which was apparently posted by a user nicknamed “Ihor UA.”

This is a fake. The user has not posted such an ad. The propagandists faked it using a graphic editor. They changed the date and description of the original ad, in which the user was selling a tactical suit for assault operations, but kept the location, price and author’s nickname.

In general, the author’s page mostly sells military gear and tactical suits. The author does not sell goods related to other topics.

Such fakes aim to discredit the Ukrainian authorities. In the case of the fake cover, the fake is aimed at Western audiences to “reinforce” the Russian narrative that the West is supposedly fed up with Ukraine, which needs help from its wartime partners. Last year, Russian propagandists also spread a fake cover of the German Titanic magazine, dedicated to the Halloween holiday, with the image of Volodymyr Zelensky.

Using a fake ad on OLX, propagandists are trying to demonize representatives of military enlistment offices in the eyes of Ukrainians.

Russian propaganda earlier forged Charlie Hebdo’s cover on the Ukrainian Formula for Peace.
