Birtwistle, 29, of Bright Street, Blackpool, was found guilty of 14 counts of rape and sexual assault.

He was jailed for 12 years after sentencing on Friday (October 25) at Preston Crown Court.

His brother Wright, 30, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to 18 charges including rape and sexual assault. He was sentenced to 16 years and two months in prison.

Detective Sergeant Rachel Benn from the Southern Exploitation Team said: “Firstly I would like to congratulate the victims in this case for having the courage to come forward and speak about what happened to them, without their courage I would not have could never have to secure these convictions and sentences against two very dangerous criminals and I hope they feel that justice has been done.

“I hope that the sentences handed down by the court will give others who have suffered similar ordeals the courage to come forward and speak out, knowing that we will investigate with sensitivity and professionalism.”
