Vice President Kamala Harris made waves on the campaign trail when she announced that she and running mate Tim Walz were both gun owners in an attempt to paint the Democratic ticket as more friendly to Second Amendment.

But some women gun owners said Fox News Digital don’t buy it.

“When Kamala Harris started talking about owning a Glock, I didn’t feel anything,” said Amara Barnes, founder of the Women Gun Owners Association of America. “We all realize it’s comforting and virtue-signalling on the right, and she hopes we’re too stupid not to realize she’s completely anti-gun.”

During the Sept. 10 presidential debate, former President Trump sought to highlight how Harris has distanced himself from previously espoused far-left positions, highlighting past positions on fracking, police defunding, and gun control. Trump claimed that Harris wanted to take away people’s guns, which Harris immediately disputed.

KAMALA HARRIS once said police could make surprise visits to the homes of legal gun owners to check for safe storage.

“Tim Walz and I are both gun owners,” she said. “We’re not taking away anybody’s guns. So stop lying about this stuff.”

For weeks, her campaign dodged questions about specific type of weapon it also owns which state it was registered in.

“I have a Glock and have for a while,” Harris said in an October interview with CBS. “60 Minutes”. And in one The town hall broadcast live with Oprah Winfrey, Harris said that if anyone breaks into her house, “they get shot.”

Washington firearms instructor and Second Amendment advocate Jane Milhans called Harris Glock’s speech “smokescreen campaign rhetoric.”

“I don’t think she’s a gun owner who practices and supports our right to protect ourselves,” Milhans said.

Milhans came face to face with two burglars in her home nearly 20 years ago, and now dedicates 100 hours of her time each year to coaching other women how to safely handle firearms.

“Every day I meet women who have survived something or want to be able to protect themselves in high crime areas,” she told Fox News Digital.

While men are still more likely to own a gun, women have been arming himself more so in recent years.

Gun ownership rates also vary across political lines, with GOP-leaning Republicans and independents more than twice as likely to say they personally own a gun as Democrats and Democratic-leaning Democrats, according to a 2023 report. Pew Research Center study.

“The majority of women in America who own a firearm will not vote for Kamala Harris,” Barnes said. “Her position on gun rights does not align with private firearms ownership.”

Harris promises to “ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, require universal background checks and support red flag laws,” according to his campaign website. She argues that “common sense gun safety laws” will help protect Americans from “gun violence in our schools, communities and places of worship.”

When he ran for president in 2019, then-Sen. Harris has committed to signing a series of executive orders on gun control if Congress failed to act within the first 100 days in office. She also expressed support for mandatory arms redemption programs.

Milhans is particularly concerned about the judges Harris might appoint if elected president, which could affect legal battles over gun control at both the state and federal levels.

“She’s going to appoint judges who are most likely anti-Second Amendment, anti-constitutional rights,” Milhans said. “When there are bad bills that violate our constitutional rights, we need to be assured that the judicial system is a fair process.”

The Harris campaign declined to comment to Fox News Digital.
