Shocking footage shows police arrest Wolverhampton van driver suspected of stealing thousands of pounds from elderly man

A Wolverhampton van driver has been arrested by West Midlands Police officers from the force’s new road policing unit.

The Crime Squad targets serious and organized criminals using the roads, while reducing the major causes of serious and fatal collisions. They operate in unmarked high performance cars.

The van driver from Wolverhampton is among the first suspects to be arrested by the Roads Policing Unit.

Police say the driver is suspected of being involved in the theft of thousands of pounds from an elderly person in Wolverhampton. Cash was recovered following his arrest.

A WMP spokesman said: “We are increasing the number of road crime teams from two to three to increase our ability to tackle organized and serious crime, thieves stealing vehicles from people’s driveways, drug dealers and other major crimes.

“And, in a first for the force, they’ll be using smaller, high-performance unbranded cars to keep up.”
