A New York State trooper is being treated for serious injuries at Albany Medical Center after being hit by a pickup truck near Exit 7 of the Northway in Colonie.

The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. Saturday while the trooper was assisting with a vehicle being towed, which caused the closure of two right-hand lanes on the Northway. According to authorities, the police officer and the tow truck operator were struck by the passing truck.

While the truck driver only suffered minor injuries, the truck driver was arrested. The New York State Police urge anyone with information about the crash to contact them at 518-457-6811 or by email (email protected).
