The wind is gusty with more sun

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — It’s going to be another windy day here in Florida because of the rising pressure gradient.

There is a very strong high pressure system to the northeast and a broad low pressure developing in the Caribbean, which allows for these strong winds.

Water conditions will continue to be poor with a high risk of rip currents and a small craft advisory in effect until Sunday evening. These will likely be expanded this coming week.

This Sunday will trend drier than yesterday under mostly sunny skies and winds near 15-25 mph from the east-northeast.

This week is going to be pretty busy! As we approach Election Day on Tuesday, the chance of rain will increase significantly as we face a surge of tropical moisture from a developing low pressure system in the Caribbean.

The National Hurricane Center currently has this system at an 80 percent chance of seeing tropical development in the next 48 hours.

It will likely become Rafael as it begins to travel north into the southeastern Gulf of Mexico.

Winds will continue to remain gusty, especially Tuesday through Thursday.

Rain chances from this low pressure will be greatest Tuesday through Wednesday with tropical showers.

After Wednesday, rain chances become more isolated and winds will continue to remain strong.

As for the broad low pressure that will likely be our next named storm, there is still much uncertainty as it drifts into the Gulf.

We will continue to monitor the progress of that system with each update.
