A shocking new poll has Vice President Harris leading Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump by three points in reliably conservative Iowa.

The final poll of the 2024 race for the White House from the famous Des Moines register The newspaper has the Democratic nominee at 47 percent to Trump’s 44 percent, in what one poll described as a “stunning reversal” for the Republican.

“It’s hard for anyone to say they saw this coming,” said J. Ann Selzer, president of Selzer & Co, the company that conducted the survey. “She has clearly jumped into a leadership position.”

Trump had a four-point lead over Harris in September in the same poll, and in June he had a huge 18-point lead over President Biden before the incumbent dropped out of the race.

The poll of 808 likely voters was conducted between Oct. 28 and Oct. 31 and had a margin of error of 3.4 percent.

National polls have consistently put the two candidates close to deadlocks.

Trump won Iowa in both 2020 and 2016.

Women and independent voters appeared to be driving toward Harris in the Hawkeye State, the poll said, with 56 percent of women going for the vice president and 52 percent of men backing the GOP nominee.

Voters 65 and older also support the Democrat, with older women going for Harris by a more than 2-to-1 margin.

More than 553,000 voters have already cast their ballots in Iowa, with 220,140 Republicans voting against 219,085 Democrats. according to the University of Florida’s Election Lab.
