DUNBEHOLDEN will be looking for a third win of the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) season when they host Chapelton Maroons at Dunbeholden Sports Complex today at 3pm.

Dunbeholden showed grit and determination against last season’s runners-up Mount Pleasant on Wednesday as they had to come from behind to win 3-2. Dunbeholden managing director Roger Simmonds says Wednesday’s win gave them a boost of confidence and they intend to build on that today.

“We are confident and the players are confident because they are working on the training ground, so we are very optimistic that we will get a positive result on Sunday,” he said. “This win gave us a morale boost and we saw improvement in that game. We believe we will continue to improve. We know that some of our players have not yet reached their full potential as many are still fit, but as time goes on the squad will get stronger – and once we put in the work, the results will be on our side. “

Dunbeholden are 11th with six points from six games, while Chapelton, having played seven games, are ninth with eight points. Simmonds admitted that Chapelton, who drew 1-1 with Arnett Gardens in their last meeting, have performed well in recent games and expect a challenging game today.

“As you can see, no team in the Premier League is weak at the moment. All the teams are strong, so we are preparing for this game like any other,” he said.

“If you look at Chapelton’s last result, they could have secured a positive result against Arnett Gardens. Arnett Gardens beat us in our first game of the season so we don’t take any team for granted.

“Chapelton play good football and they have strength in their attacking formation so they are coming in all guns blazing. But, we are preparing to meet this challenge and make sure we come out on the better side of victory.”

Defending champions Cavalier will face Tivoli Gardens at Ferdie Neita Park at 1 p.m. Cavalier, who have been in excellent form this season, recently defeated MOCA FC of the Dominican Republic 7-0 at the National Stadium on Wednesday to advance to the Concacaf Caribbean Cup final.

Coached by Rudolph Speid, the Cavalier remain the only undefeated team in the JPL, sitting in fifth place with 11 points from five games. Montego Bay United lead the table with 14 points from seven games, while Tivoli are in 12th place with five points from six games.
